A Certus cross-brand team has won a tender to provide a new product development solution for a large Australian pharmaceutical company. It will automate and co-ordinate the complex process of planning, selecting, sourcing and developing all private label and exclusively branded merchandise such as prescriptions, over the counter medicines, medical devices, food and fast moving consumer goods.

To improve time to market and to handle increasing demand for new products, a customised portal and business process management solution was selected to streamline and automate numerous standalone documents: spreadsheets, word documents, emails and written notes. The new solution will also include an external portal, allowing suppliers to log on and directly respond to RFQs, thereby increasing collaboration and reducing product development time.

Amazon Web Services will host the solution which will combine IBM Portal, Business Process Manager, FileNet Content Manager and Cognos. Four Certus business lines will collaborate on the development – Applications and Integration, ECM, IM and BA.

We were chosen for the project because, apart from our product skills, our customised solution focussed on User Centred Design, and we could execute the project using an Agile SCRUM methodology, shortening the development cycle.
